William Stregles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Brunswick on Jan. 12, 2026.
William Fredrick Stregles Sr., 83, of Brunswick, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Fred was born on February 15, 1942. He was the youngest of 9 siblings, born to Albert and Clara Stregles. Fred graduated from Savannah High School. In his younger years, he was a member of the Dynamic Deltas band and never grew tired of sharing stories from those days of winning the Battle of the Bands.

Fred met the love of his life, Joyce Cannon of Sylvania, and they were united in marriage on May 5, 1962. As a lifelong salesman, Fred often said Joyce was "the best deal he ever made." Together, they spent their early married years in Savannah, where Fred was a devoted member of Solomon's Lodge, proudly earning his 50-year pin with the Masons. He was also an active Shriner and valued the friendships and traditions
that came with both organizations. He went on to enjoy a successful career as a car salesman throughout the Southeast. His integrity and strong work ethic inspired countless colleagues and customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Fred was a faithful member of College Place Methodist Church in Brunswick. After retirement, he found great enjoyment in thrifting, always on the hunt for a gift and a good story to go along with it.

Above all else, Fred cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he took immense pride in every generation. He never missed an opportunity to tell each of them how proud he was. Fred shared a loving marriage of 62 years with his beloved wife Joyce, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Fred (Cindy) Stregles Jr. and Brenda Stregles. He leaves behind six granddaughters-his "princesses"-Sharee (Mike) Copeland, Stormye (Chad) Brantley, Chelsie (Jimmy) Sapp, Whitney (Daniel) Colson, Windsor Stregles, and Wimberly (Josh) Lewis. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Camryn Copeland; Avery and Emily Brantley; Jesse Colson; and Adrianna and Emma Lewis. Fred will be remembered for his humor, his stories, and his unwavering love for his family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Harmony Church Cemetery in Sylvania, Georgia.
