William "Bill" Herbert Stringer, age 75, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in
Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born January 3, 1951, in
Stuttgart, Arkansas, to Thomas E. Stringer and Louise Simpson Stringer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne "Suzy" Roberts Stringer; his son, Jonathan Andrew Stringer, MD (Sarah); and his cherished granddaughters, Genevieve "Genna Kay," Stella, and Vivian, who were truly the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by three younger brothers, Bob, Don (Jackie), and Brad Stringer, of White Hall, Arkansas, along with many extended family members, former students, colleagues, and friends who will carry forward his legacy of mentorship, service, and love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. Stringer and Louise Simpson Stringer, and his nephew, Marc Allen Stringer.
Bill was married 52 years to his high school sweetheart, Suzy, building a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and steadfast support for one another. He was a proud father to his son and a beloved father-in-law, but Bill found his greatest joy in being "Daddy B" to his three granddaughters, whose lives he filled with encouragement, laughter, and unconditional love.
Education was important to Bill. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1969, then continued his education at the University of Arkansas, where he was a proud Arkansas Razorback football player. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UALR, a Master of Education in Educational Administration from UA, as well as advanced doctoral studies in Educational Administration.
Bill began his almost forty-year career in education at the Arkansas Boy's Training School, then worked in Pine Bluff School District in various roles. Assistant Superintendent in the Mansfield School District followed, then Superintendent of the Ashdown School District, and later as principal at Hot Springs High School, and Rogers High School. His passion for growth, discipline, and fostering a positive school culture left a lasting impact on students and teachers in every district he served.
Throughout his career, Bill earned numerous certifications and was actively involved in professional organizations. One of the groups Bill enjoyed most was Project PRIDE (Promoting Responsibility in Drug Education), a student organization that promoted a positive, drug-free life.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Bill lived with curiosity and creativity. In retirement on Lake Hamilton, he found great joy in fishing and kayaking. He was an avid fly fisherman who loved tying his own flies and fishing the White River. He expanded his love of craftsmanship by becoming a master gardener, woodworking, brewing his own beer and wine; he also developed a passion for tai chi. Bill was a devoted animal lover, most especially schnauzers.
Bill will be remembered for his leadership, guidance, and dedication to improving the lives of others, as well as his sense of humor and memorable laugh. He is respected and admired by colleagues and students and deeply loved by his family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, Arkansas, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will follow the service at the church. A private burial will take place at a later date.
