William John Sweeney

William John Sweeney age 79 of Brookhaven, passed away surrounded by his wife, son and daughter on Jan. 14, 2018. Bill served in the United States Air Force. He worked as a plant manager for many years at Hygrade Foods in Philadelphia. Before retiring, he was safety manager for Dietz & Watson. He prized fishing, boating, and telling embellished old stories to his cherished family and friends. Hiking and eagle watching were also a favorite pastime. Son of the late William & Edna Sweeney, brother of the late Margaret Driscoll and Marie Coates. Survivors: Devoted husband of Anita Sweeney (nee Mazzini), loving father of Kenneth ( Anne Mocydlarz ) Sweeney and Catherine (Daniel) DiMaria. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren Kevin and Kelly DiMaria and William and Sophia Sweeney. Visitation: Relatives and friends are invited to his gathering Sat. Jan. 20, 2018 at 9:15 – 10:15 am. at Our Lady of Charity Church 231 Upland Rd. in Brookhaven Funeral Mass: 10:30 am Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors.
