Marion and Ida Ruth Galloway
August 23, 2025
We grew up together , we went to school together, we went to church together and we played together. Bill loved to get me in his car and drive fast around the big curve going to the point because he knew I was scared. Bill was always art our house looking for Ida Ruth. He took her to the Senior prom and bought her an orchard. Mrs. Pauline said that was the only orchard she ever bought. We were all like family in Shallotte in those days as there was nothing to do but dance. At our last class reunion in Shallotte, I had just come to visit from Texas and I called Bill to invite him to come. He said no he couldnt come, but I insisted saying"Bill this might be the last time we see each other" . He agreed and came. He looked good and we had a good time sharing past experiences. When we finished Bill got up to leave and I got up to hug him. He hugged me so tight I knew he was saying "Good Bye". Ida Ruth and Marion Galloway, will miss Bill and we are very sad. All our love to Brenda and the family . God put His arms around all of you and know He is with you in your sorrow. Hugs, Marion Galloway Snipes.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Thinking of you, Brenda and family. He was a unique and memorable character with deep roots in Brunswick County. As Bobby Williamson put it, during our Celebrate Shallotte! recognition of long-time merchants-"boys, when they made him, they broke the mould!"
