WILLIAM H. UNDERWOOD, Sr., age 85, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Ware Presbyterian Village. He was the husband of Berta Schwoegler Underwood, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Kennett Square, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey C. Underwood, Sr. and the late Helen M. Mowery Underwood. He was a Lab technician at the DuPont Co. in Wilmington, DE, retiring in 1985 after more than 25 years of service. Mr. Underwood served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He enjoyed travelling, playing golf with his friends while living in Florida and being with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, William H. Underwood, Jr. and his wife Charlene of West Chester, PA, Donald H. Underwood and his wife Nancy of Waco, TX and Mark A. Underwood and his wife Barbara of West Grove, PA; two daughters, Judith Lichtenwalner and her husband George of Richland, PA and Joyce Jackson and her husband Richard of Nottingham, PA; eleven grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren. You are invited to visit with Bill's family and friends from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM Monday , December 31, 2012, in the Hunsworth Chapel at Ware Presbyterian Village, 7 East Locust Street, Oxford, PA. His Memorial Service will follow at 12:00. Burial will be private.
