Published by Legacy on Mar. 20, 2026.
William John Van Sickell, 83, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2026.

Born in Paterson, New Jersey, on December 13, 1942, William was the son of Clarissa White Van Sickell and John Van Sickell. He lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family.

William built his career as a Black Seal pipefitter, earning respect for his skill and strong work ethic. In his free time, he enjoyed birding and was especially passionate as a pigeon fancier. He also loved fishing and spending time gaming online, hobbies that brought him both enjoyment and connection.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Van Sickell, who passed away on December 5, 2020. Their love story began in their teenage years and remained strong and devoted throughout their lives.

William is survived by his daughter, Paula Rainey; his son, William Van Sickell; his daughter-in-law, Isabelle Van Sickell; his grandchildren, Marissa Ruth, Julia Rainey, William Van Sickell, Clarissa Van Sickell, and Anthony Van Sickell; and his great-grandchildren, Parker Ruth, Finn Ruth, Blakey Whitehead, Memphis Whitehead, and Radley Whitehead.

Affectionately known as Pop, Dad, Willy, Uncle Willy, and Bill, he was a steady and guiding presence for his family. He was someone you could always count on-hands-on, trustworthy, and always there when needed. As a brother, he shared strong bonds filled with love. As a father and grandfather, his kindness and understanding shined with each new generation. As a husband, he was deeply devoted to his wife, the love of his life.

He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
