Judy, I am so sorry about Bill´s passing as I just saw the news in a APWA website. You and Bill were great friends to Beth and me and I enjoyed very much my association with Bill over the years.
I know what you are going through as I lost Beth on January 24, 2025. I known Beth and Bill are basking in glory with Jesus today.

My condolences to Judy and the Verkest family. I first met Bill when he was the President of APWA. The following year he attended a presentation I was doing and after he came to speak with me and complimented me and gave me encouragement. Several times through the years he always seemed to turn up at sessions I was doing and always went out of his way to talk with me and I always appreciated his support. When I moved to Texas he reached out to me and welcomed me to the DFW region and invited me to the branch meeting. With his encouragement I got involved with the branch and eventually became the branch President. When I encountered a problem, he was there for me. He was a special guy and I considered him a friend. Thank you Bill, for all you did, not just for me but for all of us that you inspired, supported and cared for throughout the years.

Dear Verkest family. My sincere condolences on the passing of your Bill. I'm thankful to have known him and enjoyed his wisdom and dry, funny sense of humor. He has been a wonderful host at our neighborhood Happy Hour for these past years. I will miss him a lot. Peace and grace. I'm here for you always. ~ Susie Williams

Judy and Family: I am so saddened to hear of Bill´s passing. He was one of my favorite people to work with during my years at the City of Arlington. Such a man of integrity and compassion, almost always had a smile on his face, and was the definition of grace under pressure.
My fondest memory of Bill came from a day when I was in a lot of pain at work. After a large meeting, Bill asked me to stay, said he could tell something was not right, and talked to me to see if I was ok. He talked me into seeing the doctor immediately and it turned out I had severe muscle damage from a car accident I had been in a couple of weeks earlier. I had tried to mask my pain while at work and no one even noticed except Bill. I will always remember that moment and what a kind and thoughtful man he was. He always cared about people and not just the job.
Praying God grants you all peace and sympathy during this difficult time.

I remember Bill as the most true individual I have ever known. He was always positive and genuine. I can remember when I first met him through APWA many years ago. And, wherever you saw Bill you generally always saw his wife, Judy. Love them both My heart is sad and my prayers are heartfelt! Sharon Valiante

Judy and family: my condolences and prayers with you. As a member of the Public Works Institute of Texas Committee, we all knew Bill as a tremendous leader and visionary who wanted to bring top notch education and training to young leaders. He clearly succeeded. I enjoyed this relationship and most importantly, enjoyed his personal friendship. He enriched our lives and his memories will be cherished.
