William Arthur Wilkerson, (Wilk), born to George and Ruth Maddox Wilkerson in Donalds, SC departed this life February 20, 2024 in Washington, DC.
William Arthur, as he was called by family and friends, joined Liberty Baptist Church at an early age. He was a kind, generous, loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
William attended Gantt Rosenwald School in Honea Path, SC and graduated from Geer-Gantt High School in Belton, SC. Upon graduation, he joined the Army and successfully completed his tour as U.S. Army Paratrooper. He then entered South Carolina Area Trade School, now Denmark Technical College in Denmark, SC where he majored in Barbering.
William was a successful Barber in Washington, DC. He was the owner of a Barber Shop and touched many lives with his quiet demeanor and good listening skills. His love of travel led him to many places in the US and Africa.
William was a family historian and was known for his style.
He leaves to cherish his life, Ruby Caldwell Wilkerson, James Harold Wilkerson, Marion Franklin Wilkerson, (Sally), Brenda Wilkerson Hoover, (George), Dorothy Wilkerson Jones, David Wilkerson, Grace Delphena Wilkerson McAlister, (Steward), George Hazel Wilkerson, Jr. (Deborah), Louise Wilkerson Walker, and Zelda Wilkerson Powell, (Ronald). Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
Funeral services are 12 noon Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in the Marvin Mattison Memorial Chapel, D. B. Walker Funeral Services, with burial to follow at MJ "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 am until the hour of service. Family members are at their respective homes.
