Dear Precious Wright Family, Tribal Family, Loved Ones, & Friends:

I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Chief Bill Wright. My family & I offer our sincere condolences. Chief Wright was a deeply compassionate person who truly cared for the safety & wellbeing of his family, loved ones, tribe, friends, & community. Chief Wright´s innate impeccable character & honorable dedication no doubt lead him to NYPD & later to be an exceptional War Chief of our tribe.

Being a retired civilian of a law enforcement agency & a former supervisory security officer at a private protection service, I found kinship with Chief Wright. I loved speaking with him, I loved his warm smile, I loved his chuckle, & his kind heart. I can´t begin to imagine your great pain & loss. May God comfort you & shower you with His peace which surpasses all understanding now & forever. Sincerely - Angel Kurtz & Family

Chief Bill was a wonderful and insightful leader. He had many good ideas, led with intention, created important structures for the tribe and led with a collaborative approach. He was someone you could trust to always have your back. I was honored to serve in leadership in the Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia under his watch. I pray for strength for the family at this difficult time.

I am going to miss you dearly. I will miss your voice, your jolly belly laugh, your subtle way of always giving advice. I will miss your deep need to keep the peace, and the way you called me "little girl," or signed off with, "Now don´t be a stranger."

My memories of your space are full of warmth - and the feeling of being welcome. Long Island was home, but so was Brooklyn, and so was the pet shop, Virginia... the same. Wherever you were, there was a sense of home.

Thank you for holding space for me You are forever in my heart and dreams. Kiss grandma for me.

With love,
Your niece and goddaughter,

To Jackie and family, I was so sorry to heard about Cheif Bill passing. Since I joined the Tribe over 10 years ago he was always so nice and kind to me. He was a quiet person that spoke to the point. He was the War Cheif of the Nottaway Tribe of Virginia.
