William Robert Wright

William Robert Wright, 81 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 8, 2023. Beloved husband of Elaine, cherished father of Kristin (Edward), proud grandfather of Zachary and Jacob, dear brother-in-law, uncle, and good friend to many. Bill, as he was known by most, is preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Elaine, and mother, Barbara Decker, who lovingly called him "Butch".
Bill was born in Indianapolis, IN. After relocating to Toledo, he began his trade career in the maintenance department of Toledo Hospital, where he met his wife, Elaine.
After working for many years at both Toledo and St. Charles Hospitals, Bill's knowledge, skill, and tireless work ethic led him to open River East Electric Motor Repair. This was the career accomplishment he would be most proud of in his life. River East not only became a thriving business, but Bill's careful renovation of the Oak Street building revitalized the area. This was the first of many entrepreneurial endeavors Bill would explore throughout his life. He was never afraid of taking a chance and trying something new. He also saw his businesses as opportunities to extend a helping hand to many in need.
While work drove his ambition, spending time with family and friends is what meant the most to him. He loved fishing; particularly at Devil's Lake growing up, Lake Nipissing in Canada, and at the Merickel-Farley Trout Club. Bill also enjoyed travel, music, and movies. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Freemasons. Most of all, he loved spending time at home surrounded by those he loved. Throughout the years, he often invited family and friends for games of pool, holiday celebrations, and summer cookouts. Bill's kind heart, generous spirit, and sense of humor will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Bill's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo.
