William Charles Wright, lovingly known as "Bill," 61, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2025, in Carmel, NY.
Born on November 10, 1963, in Poughkeepsie, Bill lived a life marked by quiet strength, heartfelt devotion, and a deep love for his family. He was the proud and devoted fiancé of Paula, a loving father to Alyssa and Candace. Bill was also a beloved son to Roger Wright Sr. and the late Shirley Wright, and a brother to Roger Wright, and his wife Lynnette. He was an uncle to his nephews, Brandon and Wesley, and a great-uncle to Easton and Bryce. He was also cherished in the lives of Paula's children: Giro, Melissa, and Samantha.
Bill worked for many years as a skilled butcher, a craft he took pride in with a level of dedication and integrity that earned the admiration of both coworkers and customers. His hands were steady, his work ethic strong, and his pride in his trade unmistakable.
Outside of work, Bill found joy in nature - whether through traveling, hunting, or simply nurturing his plants. He was a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan, known for his unwavering loyalty and passion for the game, often seen in his signature red and gold on Sundays.
But what truly defined Bill was his heart. He had a gift for making people laugh and a way of making you feel safe just by being there. He wasn't just part of a blended family- he was its anchor. A steady, kind, and generous presence who showed up with unwavering support, gentle wisdom, and love that needed no grand gestures to be felt. Bill brought light in his own calm way- never needing attention, always offering help. His laugh, his warmth, and his quiet strength left an imprint that will feel impossible to fill for many close to or anyone who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the legacy of a man who gave so much to so many. Bill had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
