William Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Breeland Funeral Home and Crematory Service on Apr. 20, 2026.
William "Frank" Wright, Sr., 72, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Pearl, Mississippi, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 4, 1953, in Sunflower County, Mississippi.

Frank was a simple, hardworking, and stubborn man-in the very best sense. He was strong in his ways, steady in his values, and unwavering in his love for those closest to him. He was a man who knew what he wanted and made it happen. At just 13 years old, on a blind date, he asked the love of his life, Ramona Kay, to marry him-and true to his word, they were married at 17 and 18, beginning a lifelong love story that spanned over five decades.

He found joy in the simple things in life, especially fishing-spending as many days as he could by the water with a rod and reel. He especially loved catching catfish and white perch. He passed that love down, teaching his children and many of his grandchildren how to fish, and was known for cooking the best fried fish around.

Frank also enjoyed his weekly poker games, often sitting around the table with his children-always playing to win, and often doing just that. He loved watching football and took pride in explaining the game to his grandchildren, making sure they understood every play. He was also a devoted fan of Elvis Presley, whose music he enjoyed throughout his life.

More than anything, Frank loved his family. He was a man they could always count on-dependable, present, and devoted-and he never let them down. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was simply known as "Pop." If there were grandchildren or great-grandchildren around, you could almost always find him with one sitting on his knee-a place of comfort, stories, and love.

Frank loved the Lord. Though he was not always a regular churchgoer, he had a personal relationship with Jesus-he loved to talk to Him and worship His name. He taught his family to always do the right thing, to be kind to others, and to love deeply-lessons that will continue to live on through each of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth Lindsey and William Lewis "Pete" Wright; his siblings, Johnny Ray Wright I, Terry Wright, James Wright, Mary Ann Livingston, and Tommy Geter; his granddaughter, Shannen Lane; and his great-grandchild, Britley Baughman.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Ramona Kay Wright; his siblings, Elizabeth Dueitt, Margaret McKay, and David Wright; and his children: William Frank Wright "JR" (Robyn Wright), Joann Beatarice Young (Scotty Hart), Ramona Kay Arnold (Shannon Arnold), Johnny Ray Wright II (Sabrina Wright), Susan Longo (Timothy Longo) and his aunt Faye Kendrick.

He was a proud grandfather to Codey Evans, Kirk Daniel, Chelsie Wilkinson (Justin Wilkinson), Britney Eisworth, Kristin Morgan (Jessie Morgan), Kayla Daniel, Will Arnold, Destinee Burnside (Jonathan Burnside), John Longo, Quenton Arnold, Devin Longo, Tori Motsinger (Chas Motsinger), Brooklyn Longo, Chassidy Wright, Hayden Odom, Addison Longo, and Isaac Cox.

He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Freyja Wilkinson, Deacon Wilkinson, Luke Burnside, Gweniviere Burnside, Oliver Burnside, Emri Longo, Maverick Longo, Nora Daniel, Wrenlee Arnold, Ava Cox, Brooklyn Baughman, Baylia Arnold, Braylie Eisworth, Lynleigh Morgan, and Liam Morgan.

Frank leaves behind a full and lasting legacy built on love, strength, and devotion to his family.

A funeral service will be held on May 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Breland Funeral Home in Canton, Mississippi. A graveside service will follow immediately after at Glenwood Memorial Park in Richland, Mississippi.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

The depth of his loss is immeasurable, and the hole we feel in our hearts is only so deep and vast because of how deeply he loved each and every one of us.
