Mr. William Clarence York, 81, passed away October 31, 2025. He was born August 10, 1944, to the late William John and Nellie Blanche York.
Mr. York proudly served his nation in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army. After his military service, he dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service before retiring. His commitment to service extended beyond his career. He was a faithful deacon at both Friendly Baptist Church and Hopewell Baptist Church, where he found joy in fellowship and ministering to others.
Mr. York was a man who found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved casting a line in hopes of making the big catch, teeing off on sunny afternoons, and taking long car rides that often ended at his favorite buffets. Whether cruising in his golf cart or tinkering in his shop, he embraced every moment with a warm smile and a generous heart. Above all, he cherished time with his family and friends. His home was always open, his stories always entertaining, and his presence always comforting. He had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara York, sister, Ethleyn Knotts (Zeb), brothers Dwight York (Shirley), David York (Anne), and Gene York (Judy), sons, Brantley York (Le'Dean) and Ryan York (Renay), grandchildren, Jessica Stevens (Chris), Makayla York, and Riley York, and great grandchild, Brayden Stevens.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his brothers, Gary York (Judy) and Von York.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Hopewell Baptist Church (Legacy Campus), 420 Hopewell Church Rd, Monroe, NC 28110.
Mr. York will be laid to rest in the church cemetery immediately following the service.
The family will receive friends the night before services from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Hopewell Baptist Church (Legacy Campus), 420 Hopewell Church Rd, Monroe, NC 28110.
