William Richard Zonca Sr.

Zonca, William Richard Sr. age 75 of Newton, NJ passed away Sunday May 5, 2024 in Wayne, NJ following a long illness. Born in Passaic, NJ, William had resided in Garfield., Green Twp., NJ, and New Port Richey Florida before moving to Newton three years ago.
Son of the late Joseph C. and Angelina (nee LoPinto) Zonca Sr., William had proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recipient as well as a recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal as well as the Vietnam Campaign Medal. William was also a member of the VFW Post 7383.
William was a member of the Local #7 New York and New Jersey Tile, Marble, and Terrazzo Union. Mr. Zonca owned his own company, RDU Terrazzo and Tile for most of his career, he also worked for his son's company Zonca Terrazzo and Mosaic LLC Armonk, NY before retiring from the industry in 2014.
Mr. Zonca was enjoyed boating and classic cars. His pride and joy was a 2001 Prowler that he loved to show at all local car shows. William was also a member of the Wanderers Car Club, and a recipient of the distinguished citizen award presented to him by Governor Chris Christy.
William is predeceased by his brother Joseph Zonca Jr. in 2016. Survivors include his beloved wife Sharon K. (nee Massey) Zonca, his son William Jr. and his wife Lorie Zonca of Sparta, his daughter Alicia B. Zonca-Berg and her husband John Berg of Hardwick, NJ, and his grandchildren Salvatore Zonca, Jillian Berg, Julia Zonca, Peyton Berg, and Reese Berg. Also surviving are his brother Richard Zonca, and his nieces Angela Chiaia, and Cinzia Moran and his nephews Joseph G. Zonca and Richard S. Zonca.
Visitation will be held Friday May 10, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main Street (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ 07860. Funeral Services will be held from the Funeral Home Saturday May 11, 2024 at 9 AM followed by a 1030 AM Service at the Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church #1 Yellow Frame Rd. Fredon, NJ 07860.
