A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 at 12:30 pm in St. Elizabeth Seton Church for Willie Benoit, 91, who passed away December 17, 2024 at the Carpenter House. Father Brian Harrington, pastor of Our Lady of Sacred Heart in Church Point, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Jordan and Lindsey Bottom will be the lectors; Kristin Gonzales, Taylor Moore, Molly Hornsby, and Kay Bourgeois will be the gift bearers. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will perform "Amazing Grace", "To You, O Lord I Lift My Soul", "I Can Only Imagine", "One Bread, One Body", and "On Eagle's Wings". Interment will be in St. Leo Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Benoit of Lafayette; two daughters, Tammy (Barry) Hornsby of Lafayette and Tricia (Michael) Bottom of Parker, CO; one son, Troy Benoit of Youngsville; seven grandchildren, Tyler Hornsby, Kristin Gonzales, Taylor Moore, Jordan Bottom, Lindsey Bottom, Kay Bourgeois, and Jared Benoit; six great-grandchildren, Luke Hornsby, C.J. Gonzales, William Gonzales, Andrew Moore, Peyton Bourgeois, and Saige Bourgeois; and one step great-grandson, Carson Bourgeois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Arthur Benoit; two brothers, Chester and Harry Benoit; and two grandsons, Joshua and Andrew Bottom.
Willie was a native of Vermilion Parish, longtime resident of Crowley, and lived in Lafayette for the past five years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was employed at Coburns Supply Co. for 25 years prior to his retirement.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Hornsby, Jared Benoit, Barry Hornsby, Michael Bottom, Troy Benoit, and Ben Gonzales.
The family requests that visitation be held Friday morning from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Walters Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am at Walters Funeral Home.
