Willie M. Burks Sr.

Reverend Willie M. Burks Sr., 81, was born and raised in Jackson, Georgia and later moved to Stockbridge, and from Stockbridge to Atlanta. He entered eternal rest on October 29, 2025. He was born March 24, 1944, to the late Milton and Ada Ruth Burks and was the oldest of nine children. From a young age, he was baptized and devoted his life to Christ; and later becoming Reverend Burks.
He was known for his wisdom and deep knowledge of God's word. A true man of purpose! He worked diligently throughout his life as a mechanic, landscaper, and delivery truck driver for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He always gave 100% of his time and energy to everything he was asked to do. There was not much he could do or fix. Reverend Burks had a passion for family and people. He was a personable, loving, and witty man of God who loved to talk. He never met a stranger! Whenever he met anyone, he had no problem striking up a conversation; and that person's life was forever changed after they met him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Burks; his loving children, Deborah (Stacey), Veronica (Sherman), Willie Jr. (Kenzie), Jerome, Corey, Eric (Lisa), Christina, Josona, Jacob, and stepdaughter Chantell. He had a total of twenty-four grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by his presence and guidance.
He also leaves behind four brothers Steve, Lance, Arthur, Lester, 2 sisters-in-law; Minister Nia and Vickie, and brother-in-law; Jeff, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He will be truly missed.
