Brother Willie Ray (W.R.) Davis, nicknamed "Billy"
Bro. W.R. Davis was born on October 29, 1941, to the late Mr. Ezra and Mrs. Althea Davis in Rockwall, Texas. He attended Rising Star Elementary School in Riesel, Texas, and graduated from Moore High School in Waco, Texas. Billy received Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Marlin, Texas. In the church, he served as a Steward, Trustee, Class Leader, Sons of Allen, Lay Organization member, and Usher. Billy is a 32nd Degree Mason, Hopeful Lodge 78.
Billy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 and stayed until 1962. He achieved the rank of SGT. In 1965, he married Doris Lang. They had three beautiful daughters: Ruby (Ricky) Davis, Sheila Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Dr. Tamika (Clint) Hamilton of Woodbridge, Connecticut. He was a hard worker as a concrete and landscape contractor.
Billy loved to travel; he and his wife, Doris, lived in 46 states during their twenty-year marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Althea Davis; his wife, Doris Lang Davis; his brothers, Ezra, Sylvester, Phil, and Hillard Davis; his sisters, Coloma Franklin, Julie Carr, Justine Giles, Dorthea Davis, Darlene Davis, Ezelle Davis; and a devoted nephew Deckard "Mighty" Alexander. He is survived by one brother, Skillful Davis; a devoted niece who was his caregiver to the very end of his life, Sis. Fosterine Davis; a devoted friend Isaiah Williams, and his favorite buddy E'Andre Howard. He has eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
