Willie Jeff Duggon, 82, transitioned from this life on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center, Normal, IL.
Willie, the son of Eifforn and Geneva (Walls) Duggon, was born on April 21, 1941, in McCall Creek, Mississippi.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Willie was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he served proudly on the Usher Board, until his health declined.
Willie worked at Holiday Inn for fifteen years and later was a part of Local 362 and worked for J.G. Stewart Construction, for over twenty years, until his retirement.
Willie married Eleanor McClain, and to that union two children were born, Jeanine and William. On March 27, 1969, Willie and Mamie L. Person married and to this union they welcomed a son, Aaron.
Willie had an outgoing personality and was not a stranger to anyone. He enjoyed talking to everyone and lending a hand when needed.
Willie is survived by his wife, Mamie L. (Person) Duggon; children, Jeanine Duggon of Union City, Tennessee, William Duggon of Chicago, Illinois, and Aaron (Nicki) Duggon of Nashville, Tennessee; siblings, Mary Stovall, Johnnie Walls of Bloomington, Illinois, and Gladys Stovall of Macomb, Illinois. He also leaves a special cousin, Arma B. Powell of Brookhaven, Mississippi; four grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two uncles, Pete Walls and Eddie Walls; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and other relatives who welcomed him into the gates of Heaven.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center, and to all the doctors and nurses involved in Willie’s care.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington, with Rev. U.D. Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Kibler Brady Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
