Willie Hudson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Funeral Service and Chapel, Inc. - Springfield on Dec. 11, 2024.
Ms. Willie G. (Tillie) Hudson of Springfield, IL passed away on Thursday, December 6th, 2024, at 7:30am at Memorial Hospital. Willie was born on January 14, 1935, in Auxvasse, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas E. Baldwin and Agnes E. Baldwin. Though her time with us has come to an end, the impact she made on the lives of her loved ones will continue to be felt.
Willie was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters: Delores Hudson and Loraine Hudson; son: Elsworth Sebastian; two brothers: Hayden Baldwin and Maylon Baldwin; grandchildren: Capone Sims, Vance Jenkins, and A'aniyah Hudson Crawford; uncles Foy Brown, Lloyd Brown, and Howard Brown; and special loved ones William Henry, Helen Brown, Daisey Buckner, Edward Baldwin Sr., and Gertrude Lee. We can only imagine the joyful reunion she is now experiencing in the presence of those who have gone before her.
She married Otis D. Hudson in 1968, who preceded her in death in 2018. She had been a resident of Springfield, IL since 1942. Throughout her life, Willie found great joy in the simple pleasures - fishing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her beloved family.
She was employed by Dr. Victoria Nicholas Johnson as a homemaker for 18 years. She worked as a janitor for the City of Springfield, Sangamon Club, Chase Lounge, and Rawls Lounge as a bartender. She was a teacher's aide at John Hayes Home. She retired from Dr. Johnson in 2001. Willie's strong work ethic and dedication to serving others were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Willie was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was dedicated to the church choir where she loved the Lord and loved to sing. Her unwavering faith and joyful spirit were a testament to the depth of her relationship with God.
She is survived by her daughters: Annette Hudson, Barbara Hudson, and Denise Kerchief, all of Springfield, and Nora Hudson of Milford, CT; sons: Darnell Hudson, Edward Baldwin, and Dwayne Hudson, all of Springfield, IL; special loved ones: Lottie Baldwin, George Johnson, Vykye Johnson, and Maggie Johnson Richardson; and 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Though our hearts are heavy with the loss of this remarkable woman, we find comfort in the knowledge that her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire us all.
