Willie James Huling

Willie "Bill" James Huling, Jr., age 70, a resident of Mt. Clemens passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at McLaren Hospital. Willie was born April 3, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia to Willie and Helen Huling. Willie was a very giving man and member of many social and philanthropic organizations. Willie was a 32nd Degree Mason and served as the Worshipful Master of Israel 18 Lodge. He was also a member of the Shriners International, Patron of the St. Mary Eastern Order of Stars, the Association of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, volunteered as a first responder of the Macomb County Disaster Relief, the Detroit Power Squadron, and the National Rifle Association. Willie worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at the Detroit Medical Center for 43 years and retired in 2013. He was a master at caring for his patients. In his free time, Willie enjoyed photography, traveling, hunting, boating, fishing, camping and spending time outdoors. He was an avid marksman and enjoyed spending time at the shooting range sharpening his skills. Willie was a strong supporter of the local car cruises, donor to the Detroit Zoo, Detroit Institute of Arts and Detroit Public Television. He loved to learn about history through multiple mediums, such as reading, traveling, and visiting museums worldwide. Willie was a loving man who enjoyed helping people and sharing his knowledge. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Beloved husband of Cheryl, loving father of LaTonya (Jesse) Hinton of Sacramento, California, Katherine (Victor) Grisson of Belleville, Michigan, and Brandon (Crystal) Huling of Chesterfield, Michigan. Dear grandfather of Brionna Hinton, Jasmyn (Clay) Wilson, Victor Grisson, II, Jordin Hinton, Brandon Huling II, Dante Huling, and Darrius Huling. Cherished great grandfather of Maleeya. Loved brother of Jewel Junior. Dear uncle to LaWanda Graves-Byron and Kevin Junior. Family will receive friends Friday from 4-9 PM at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd. Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. Masonic ritual 7 PM. In state Saturday 9 AM until time of funeral service 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Green Acres Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in Willie's honor to Detroit Public Television.
