Willie Adam “Billy” Jackson Jr. passed away at the Warner Center in Fernandina Beach on March 23, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.
Billy was born on August 3, 1946, in Lake City, Florida, to A.W. and Christine Jackson and was raised in Jasper, Florida. In November of 1964, he entered the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country. Following his military service, he began a 25-year career as a detective with Norfolk Southern Railroad and later served as Commander of VFW Post 8095 for eight years.
Billy truly loved his country, and surviving two tours in Vietnam was proof of his commitment. He was always willing to help others whenever possible. He enjoyed spending time with cherished friends and sharing a story or two in conversation.
Billy is survived by his life companion of 25 years, Shirley Stanley; sister-in-law, Naomi Jackson; niece, Athena (Rudy) Prine; nephews, Brett (Tina) Adams and Jake (Becky) Adams; and four great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.W. and Christine Jackson; sisters, Lucille Crews, Zenobia Jackson, and Linda Jackson Adams; and brother, John Jackson.
A graveside service honoring Billy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 27, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida.
