Willie Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Memorial Home - Red Bank on Feb. 7, 2026.
Willie Johnson passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind his devoted wife, Penny, and his beloved sons, Alex and Michael. He was a loving husband, a proud father, and a man deeply cherished by all who knew him.

Willie found his greatest happiness in life's simplest moments. He loved being outdoors, whether fishing, taking long walks, or simply enjoying the fresh air alongside his loyal dog, Beretta, who was rarely far from his side. The beach held a special place in his heart. The sound of the ocean, the open sky, and the calm it brought were where Willie felt most at peace.

Family was always at the center of Willie's life. He shared 31 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Penny. Together, they raised their sons, Michael and Alex, in Monmouth Beach. Willie was an involved and encouraging father who supported his boys in both athletics and academics and took pride in them.

Though life took him many places, Patchogue Medford remained home in Willie's heart. He often spoke of his football days there. It was a memory that reflected both his love of the game and his joy in storytelling.

Willie was a proud member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity at SUNY Plattsburgh, where lifelong friendships were formed. He was well know among his fraternity brothers for his sense of humor and his love of a good prank. He took just as much pleasure in telling those stories years later as he did in pulling them off.

Above all, Willie was known for his humor. He had a way of bringing laughter into any room through quick wit, playful teasing, or a well timed story. Making people laugh came naturally to him, and it remains one of the greatest gifts he leaves behind.

Willie will be remembered for his warmth, his presence, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He showed up for the people he cared about and made them feel seen and valued. While he will be missed beyond words, his spirit lives on in the memories, love, and laughter he leaves behind.

Willie Johnson leaves behind a legacy of devotion, humor, and love that will live on in all who knew him.
