Willie James Jones

Willie James Jones, 76, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Upstate at Community General Hospital. Born in Akron, Alabama, Willie made his home in the Syracuse area for more than 50 years. He was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication throughout his life. Willie retired from Oberdorfer after many years of service. He also worked at Midas, where he began as a mechanic and later rose to the position of supervisor. At the time of his passing, he was a beloved and valued driver with Farone & Son Funeral Home, where he was appreciated for his dependability, kindness, and the care he showed to others.

Willie was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting, fishing, and gardening. He appreciated the simple pleasures of life and took pride in working with his hands and spending time outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his mother, Mattie Jones; daughter, Doretha Hill; brothers, Jesse Jackson and Benny Jackson; sisters, Lizzy Mae Hunter and Louise Gardner; and his in-laws, Orange and Jenny Williams.

Willie is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Dora Mae Jones; his children, Eloise Jones, Stacy Jones, Willie James Jones, Jr., John Jones, and Don Jones; his sisters, Ruby Turner and Mary Jackson; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Willie's legacy of hard work, love for his family, and appreciation for life's simple joys will live on in all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at FARONE & SON Inc Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Willie will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
