I have known Willie King since I started with the county in 2008. Willie has always been the most genuine person I've had the pleasure of working with and have known in my career here at OCU. I've had many of talks with Willie, many of which were conversations of good personal advise. I will surely miss my great friend and I pray that God is with his family and friends through this hard time! God Bless!

My dear friend/brother,
This is so hard right now because I still find myself wanting to talk to you. I catch myself thinking, "I should tell you about this," before remembering you´re no longer here. It´s strange how someone can be gone and still feel so present in your thoughts.
I miss you more than words really explain-your voice, your laughter, the way you understood things without me having to say much. The memories we shared here at Orange County keep replaying in my mind, and I´m grateful for every one of them. The way you always try to get in my business and I will tell you, "None ya" and we burst out in laughter.
There are so many things I wish I could tell you. I wish I could ask how you are, wherever you are now. I hope somehow you know how much you meant to me and how much you still do.
Thank you for being part of my life. Thank you for the moments, the lessons, and the friendship that will always stay with me. Even though I can´t see you anymore, you´ll always have a place in my heart. My condolences to your family, whom you spoke so lovingly about. Until we meet again, I´ll keep carrying the memories with me. Angels on guard, my friend and may you continue to rest in peace.

Your friend/sister, Maxine

Willie was a special person with a heart of gold. He was able to see the good in people through eyes of encouragement and admiration. He was a counselor in his own way. If you sat down in a talk together, he would always make you feel listened to and will point out all the great things he would see in you. I met him at Presidents Drive when he started work in 2007. Later in 2024, we return to work together as I moved to his section. Willie was a great friend to all that know him. I still remember his final speech when retiring. It was so inspiring and humbling. He will be truly missed; his talks, his stories, and his jokes. My appreciation and condolences to his family!!

Willie was my friend and coworker! We met years ago while working for Orange County and we became fast friends bonding over both being from the south and feasting on raccoon and possum and other wild animals that most wouldn't dare admit to eating! Willie was a great man and very kind! He had a heart of gold and the best personality ever! Always a kind word and always something funny to say! I am so sad that Willie is gone and so soon after retiring! Thank you for serving our country and thank you for gifting us with your light! You will be missed that's for sure!! My deepest condolences to the family!

Willie was one of those people you couldn´t help but smile around. I first met him years ago while I was working at Orange County Utilities during my "power walk laps" through the building. Somewhere along those laps I ran into Willie - and from that point on there was always a joke, a smile, or some friendly mischief waiting around the corner.

He had such a warm spirit and an easy way of making people feel welcome. I was so sad to hear he passed so soon after retiring. The world needed more time with that humor and kindness.

But I have no doubt heaven just gained a jokester... and Willie is already walking around up there making people laugh and keeping everyone on their toes.

Rest easy, Willie. You will be remembered with a smile. Tammy Ross
