How do you quantify the greatness of a man?
My Paw is & was a magnificent man who always did more than enough .
Papa is the blueprint of what a real man is. He was the example & still is the standard. He taught us, "A man can tell you anything, but what has he shown you?"
Papa, for 94 years, you showed us a man rooted in God - a man who was stability not only for our family, but for the community. For 74 of those years, you showed us that a man must be MORE THAN just a great father, but also a greater and loving partner to his wife. YOU WERE BOTH.
One woman - he didn´t play about her.
Nine children, and so many grands and great-grands that he loved and adored.
He meant what he said and definitely said what he meant . There was no gray area with my Papa. We all inherited his wit, charm, and trash-talking in some form .
He was filled with so much wisdom and common sense. He had a natural remedy for everything - from a splinter in your hand, to a swollen ankle, or if you were faking sick (like me ) just to get a couple drops of some shine. He always had a scripture to fill your spirit, but before you left, he´d have a joke to tickle your soul and get him in trouble with Granny Girl .
His presence alone demanded respect - because he showed it.
Stella & Willie always showed up for people.
He taught us that "Love is what love does."
He led us with integrity, discipline, and honor.
It is the honor of a lifetime to be your granddaughter, Papa. You´re the only man that I truly loved, and the man who filled the void of my father . You were never performative or in need of applause .
No matter how big or small, we could always come to you crying. You protected our hearts, understood where we were coming from, prayed with us, corrected us with love, filled our spirits back up with wisdom - and sent us on our way with a slice of watermelon .
You and Granny built this huge family on pure love and unity. I cannot thank you enough for EVERYTHING . You are my everything, and words cannot describe this combination of hurt and love that I feel.

The Alpha of our pack.
It hurts to live without you, and I´m still trying to process the weight of that. How could I let you go?
Thirty-six years is all I got with you, and I´m grateful for every millisecond.
