Willie Pixley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Myers Mortuary & Cremation Services at Alpine Road on Feb. 23, 2026.
Mrs. Willie Mae Pixley, lovingly known as "Cuda", was born on September 28, 1933, in Johnston, South Carolina, in Edgefield County. From her earliest days, she carried a quiet strength and grace that would shape the life she so faithfully lived.

She was a woman of devotion and steady love. Her life was rooted in faith, family, and service, the kind of life that leaves a gentle but lasting imprint on everyone it touches.

She attended Martha Schofield High School in Aiken, South Carolina. She expressed her love most beautifully through cooking and hosting. Her kitchen was more than a place to prepare meals; it was a sacred gathering space where stories were told, wisdom was shared, and memories were made.

She was deeply rooted in the Shiloh Heights community and faithfully led the Adopt-A-Highway Program there beginning in 1999. In 2021, she was honored with the Longevity Award from the South Carolina Adopt-A-Highway Program, presented by the Board of Keep Aiken County Beautiful, recognizing her passionate and dedicated service to her community.

Her faith was active and visible. She was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she served as President of the Usher Board and the Missionary Society. She also served as a Beginners Class Sunday School teacher and led the church kitchen for many years with quiet

dedication. Her service was never about recognition; it was about obedience, commitment, and love for God and His people.

She found joy in gardening and had a special love for flowers. She loved music, often filling her home with melodies that matched her joyful spirit.

For decades, she graciously hosted family gatherings and holidays. Christmas was her favorite, a season she embraced with tradition, warmth, laughter, and rooms filled with love. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and took great pride in guiding her adult children through life. Her counsel was gentle but firm, wise and steady.

She devoted her life to her family and extended family as a homemaker, a calling she embraced wholeheartedly until 2025. In that role, she nurtured generations, created stability, and built a legacy of love that will continue to echo through her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Deacon George Pixley, Jr.; her parents, Boisy Hamilton, Sr. and Willie Mae Hamilton; and her brothers, Deacon John Adam Hamilton and Boisey Hamilton,Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Jessie Lee Hamilton and Joe L. (Gladys) Hamilton; her children, Sharon Williams, Lynwood Pixley Sr., Tavy (Daryl Jr.) Perry, Taiwanna Pixley (Jay) Burns, and Keith Pixley; her grandchildren, Shayla Pixley, Najee Perry, Johnny Daryl (DeAsia) Perry, Lynwood Pixley Jr., Ebony Jones, Jeremiah Burns, Joshua Burns, Christian Jefferson, Caleb Jefferson, Emery Jefferson, Jonkheer Burns Jr., and Jalen Burns; her great-grandchildren, Colton Perry, Brogan Perry, Chloe Perry, and Payton Burns; her bonus children, Annie Pixley, Freddy Ready, and Latrice Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her deeply.

Her life was beautifully lived. She laughed, served, nurtured, and loved with her whole heart. Though she now rests, the legacy of her faith and the warmth of her love will continue to guide the generations who call her Mama, Grandma, Sister, and Friend.
