Willie Rowland Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by S.M. Goodson Funeral Homes and Crematory - Talladega on Feb. 3, 2026.
Mr. Willie Ed Rowland, Sr. began his remarkable journey through life on January 23, 1950, born to the loving union of Wallace and Nancy Miller Rowland in Talladega, Alabama.

From an early age, his heart was devoted to the Lord, and he found a spiritual home at New Hope Methodist Church where he accepted Christ as his Savior. Willie proudly received his education within the Talladega City School System, where he built the foundation for a life filled with adventure, laughter, and hard work.

Known for his infectious joy and kind spirit, Willie became a cherished figure in his community. He was a man of many passions-whether shooting pool, casting a line into the deep waters of life while waiting for the big catch, or striking the bongo with fervor, he brought energy and warmth to every gathering. His gentle humor and engaging conversation left an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know him. With a steadfast dedication, he devoted his working years to various roles, concluding his career at S & R Lumber Company, where his commitment was as firm as his spirit.

On Monday evening, Feb 2, 2026, God saw it best that Willie Ed Rowland, Sr. found rest when he peacefully answered the Master's call while in the care of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Willie is now at the beginning of permanent reign with the Lord joining his parents Wallace and Nancy Rowland, Sr., daughter, Carolyn (Curtis) Ragland, brothers, Wallace Rowland, Jr., Columbus Rowland, and Henry Lee Rowland, and sister, Diane Rowland.

Willie leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Rowland; five sons, Isaac Rowland, Damond Rowland, Willie (Lisa) Rowland, Jr., Wallace LaPaul (Tosha) Rowland, and Walmetric Whitson; three daughters, Davette (Howard) Patton, Anessa Rowland, and Rose (Antonieo) Jordan; two brothers, Jerome Rowland and Walter Rowland; two sisters, Mary Emziah and Patricia Cochran; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends that will continue to cherish his memories.
