Willie Davie Singletary, Jr. was the firstborn of Rosa Mae and Willie Davie Singletary, Sr. He was born on December 20, 1956, in Mayesville, South Carolina. His early years were spent in Baltimore, Maryland, and family travels brought him to Sumter, South Carolina.

His parental grandparents, Evelyn Joy and Sammie Singletary, nurtured and cared for him and his sibling into adulthood. After graduating from Sumter High School, Willie enlisted in the United States Army. After his time in the military, he relocated to Fort Pierce, Florida where he met his loving wife, Gwendolyn Vernell.

Before retiring, he was employed by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office for 25 years. Willie's community service included coaching youth softball, baseball, and basketball. He was an avid sports enthusiast, supporting his teams, the Miami Dolphins and the LA Lakers. He was a skilled bowler, a self-described master chess player, and an excellent basketball player. Willie's greatest passion was his love for his family.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn V. Singletary; his parents, Rosa Mae and Willie Davie Singletary, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Flossie and William Plowden; his paternal grandparents, Evelyn Joy and Sammie Singletary; his brothers, Wallace and Curtis; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Sharee McBride Coke and De'Anna Singletary, his siblings: William Lee, Rosa, Victor (Carol), and Kevin (Hellon), his grandchildren: Jay Allen II, Ayonna Mitchell, Da'Nasia Davis, Eli'Jah Davis, Jasper Jerome, Sr, and Jacari Smith, his great-grandchildren: Ja'Ziah Jerome, Jasper Jerome, Jr, JaKobi Jerome, and Faith Jerome, two sisters-in-law: Virginia Musgrove and Gail Freeman, special niece and nephews: Tyronda McKinnond, Ed Owens, Duane Simon, and Dontavious Simon and a host of loving relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
