Willie Francis Freeman Sumich peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on November 30, 2024, at the age of 93. Willie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and “Nana”. She was adored by all who knew her. She was kind and thoughtful. Her heart and home were always ready to welcome family, friends, or whomever may be in need. She had a way of making everyday life feel special. Most importantly, she was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and a longtime member of The First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse. For most of her life, she and her late husband, Matthew Sumich, lived in Plaquemines Parish surrounded by a community they were proud to be a part of. Her family will always remember with love and warmth her laughter and all the ways she brightened their lives. Beloved wife of the late Matthew N. Sumich. Mother of Pamela Wynn (late Leon), John Sumich (Carmel), Melinda S. Babin (Norris Jr.), and Darren Sumich (Anne). Grandmother of Heather Millican (Scott), Jonathan Sumich (Lindsey), Joshua Sumich (Christian), Summer S. Orges (David), Seth Easterling Babin (Ryan), Samantha Simmons (Travis), Kimi Burlette (Corey), Ellen Anne Sumich, and the late Christopher Wynn. Great-grandmother of Chloe, Phoebe, Henry, Graham, Hailey, Lexi, Mollie, Matthew, Tinley, Eli, Autumn, Oakley, Arbour, Delta, Riley, Quinn, Lyla, and Theo. Daughter of the late Ivy Ray Freeman and Beatrice Hester Freeman. Sister of Minnie Popich and the late Lois Tompkins, Sue Lamb, and Charles “Sonny” Freeman.
