Willie Robert Thomas

Willie Robert Thomas, born on March 20, 1950, in Houma, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. He leaves behind a legacy as a passionate musician, devoted family member, and cherished friend.

Willie was a talented drummer whose rhythms echoed far beyond the borders of his hometown. His tenure with the Bumblebelicous Band allowed him to travel the world, sharing his love for music and captivating audiences with his spirited performances. Whether on stage or off, Willie was characterized by his ever-present smile and a vibrant personality that kept him continually engaged with those around him.

He had a remarkable bond with children, dedicating his time not only to sharing his musical prowess but also to teaching them how to play the drums. Willie's kindness was evident in all he did, and his warm heart led him to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, from lottery games to watching basketball and football on television.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Willie proudly served in the military, embodying a sense of duty and commitment that defined much of his life. Through the years, he cultivated deep relationships with his family and friends, fostering a supportive and loving environment.

Willie is survived by his siblings Paula Thomas, Michael Thomas, Eddie "Charlie B" Thomas, and Derrick Pettus. He held a special place in his heart for his best friends and fellow band members Rick Crawford, Mississippi Red, and Tony Harris. Willie adored his many nieces and nephews, who will remember him fondly, along with honorary grandchildren Leah and Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Helen Thomas, father Johnny Fisher, and sister Cynthia Flucas. He was also preceded by his late nieces Kristi Thomas and Michele Houston, and his nephews Deon Flucas, Marcus Flucas, and Derrick Pettus, Jr.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, at 1:00pm at St. Paul Bethlehem MBC 333 Crown Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45417 with Pastor James E. Thoronton officiating.

Willie Robert Thomas touched the lives of many and will be lovingly remembered for his joyful spirit and the music he shared. His contributions as a musician and his friendships will resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
