Willie Juanita Thompson

On February 7, 2026, our beloved mother, mammaw and best friend, Willie Juanita Thompson, departed from this world and returned to heaven. Juanita was born in Denton, Texas to Joe and Willie Kirby on June 28th in 1932. Her presence here will be greatly missed. If ever there were an angel who was sent to earth, she certainly would be one. All who knew her, loved her. She was intelligent, intuitive, kind, caring, loving and had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and special. Her first priority in this world was to serve God, and that she did all of her life. She dedicated herself to helping everyone who needed a helping hand. As the wife of a Free Will Baptist minister, she filled her role extremely well. She was an equal partner in the ministry that they shared bringing people all over Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico to know and appreciate the goodness of being a Christian! Her days were spent helping others in whatever way they needed assistance. Her door was always open to her community, to her church, to her friends, neighbors, family, and all who needed someone to support them. Wherever they were and whatever their need, she was always present. Loving everyone was essential to her nature. She always had a smile on her face. She laughed easily and loved to joke and play. Her lap was home to countless hundreds of children who needed a kind voice, reassurance, love, warmth, and that feeling of safety. We were constantly reminded by her that loving each other is what God placed us here on this earth to do, and it is our job to do that to the best of our ability. Let us not forget...When we faltered, she told us that we "needed to go down to the alter!" Whenever we were discouraged or distraught, she always reminded us, "everything will be okay!" Whenever we were unhappy with someone, her response was, "pray for them and just keep loving them." Her example included being the best wife to our father, Dean Thompson, for 73 years, for being the best mother to three children and their spouses, the best grandmother to countless numbers of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren, teaching all of us how to be good. She excelled at many things.She loved to cook and share her food . She was known by all for her chocolate pie and coconut meringue pie! If you had one bite, you would want the whole thing! She healed us when we were hurt and picked us up anytime we fell down! She was our greatest confidant and always encouraged us to be our best selves! In our minds and hearts, she exemplified all that was good in this world! We can only hope that we take from her example the goodness that she imparted and carry on her legacy!! Rest in peace, mama! Juanita is survived by sons Buck Thompson and wife,Peggy of Kerrville, Texas and Joe Thompson and wife, Lita, of Duncan, Oklahoma; daughter Paula Wright and husband, Lonnie, of Marlow, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Don Thompson and wife, Linda, of Middleburg, Florida, sister-in-law Johnnye Morris of Kermit, Texas; seven grandchildren Kari Garcia, Andrew Thompson, Philip Thompson, Denisa Reynolds, Clayton Wright, McKinzie Ash, and Clint Duesman, and 18 great and great great grandchildren.
