Willie James Williams Jr., 77, of Benton Harbor departed this life Jan. 20, 2026.
A service celebrating his life will be Saturday, Jan. 31., at the Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor. The visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. Please visit www.robbinsbrothersfh.com to sign the guest book online.
Willie was born in Caruthersville, Mo., on Feb. 18, 1948, to the union of Willie James Williams Sr., and Mary Linda (Love) Williams. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Baptist Church
Willie served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969 due to injuries he suffered during that time.
Willie loved singing and listening to music, especially hymns, they gave him peace in his storm. Out of all his siblings, he was the quiet strength and he was always willing to help.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Deidra Williams-Kindred, Delray Williams, Deshonique Williams and Denine Williams; sister, Elder Jacquelyn (Von) Clement; brothers: Dwight C.Williams, and Dewayne (Marsha) Hadley. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, several grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, friends and a special friend, Hattie Williamson, his caretaker and fellow veteran, John Potts and dear friend and fellow veteran Rev. Rodney C. Gulley.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents: Mary and Willie Williams Sr.; his sister, Linda C. Hill; maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts, uncles, cousins; niece, Leantonette Williams-Gentry and nephew, Shauntae Hill.
