Willis (Bill) Merriman Hendricks Jr. was born on June 23, 1947. He lived a full life and died peacefully on February 18, 2026 after courageously battling some health issues.
He is survived by his beautiful wife, Susan, of 47 years of marriage, his children, Rebecca O’Boyle (Shawn), Will Hendricks (Shannon), and Molly Mickens (Bryan), and 5 grandkids (Patrick, Parker, Owen, Theo, and Chloe).
He loved his family and had a special bond with everyone, especially his grandkids. He built a successful career working so hard as a manager of McDonald’s for many, many years. He provided for us to the very end and we will forever be grateful for the sacrifices he made. When he wasn’t at work or with family, you could find him on a golf course. His was very skilled at his craft and so clutch when the pressure was on. He had a reputation for being the best putter around. Birdies and eagles rolled in from all around the green. It’s no surprise that he also had a hobby for birdwatching. He enjoyed following the hummingbirds’ annual migration all the way up to his own feeder. He had a passion for God’s green earth and all the animals that roamed it. He was fond of the honey badger and elephant to name a few. The beauty of God’s green earth is on display each year at the Masters where he enjoyed watching the golfers take on the challenges of Amen Corner. Bill carried his cross and has received his wings. He is now a member of the exclusive golf course where the fairways are golden and the lies are always perfect. Now on the tee box, from LaGrange, Georgia, Bill Hendricks (golf clap from his dad Willis Hendricks Sr., mom Thelma Hendricks, and older sister Marganne Price who are already in heaven cheering him on)!
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church (TMUMC) in Tappahannock, VA. A time of visitation will be held prior beginning at 10am at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to TMUMC. Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
