Wilma E. Hotalen, age 85 of Painted Post, NY entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at her home. Born on November 18, 1939 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Resue) Briggs.
Wilma married Gilbert Hotalen, celebrating 15 years of marriage before his death in 1993. She spent her working career as a line inspector for Corning, Inc., retiring in 1994 with 21 years of service. Wilma will be remembered for her love of fishing at the lake and trips to the casinos.
Wilma is survived by her son, William L. (Roberta) Letts, Jr. of Rosepine, LA; daughter, Christine Letts of Painted Post, NY; step-daughter, Jeanie (Steve) Pym of Painted Post, NY; brother, Terry Briggs, Sr. of Corning, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wilma was predeceased by her siblings: Marjorie Wiles, Carl Briggs, Sr., Deanna Crane, Patricia Bush, Barbara Reichichi, Maxine Edwards, Donald Briggs, Stephen Briggs.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St. Corning, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the family plot in Chapel Knoll Cemetery, Painted Post, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilmas name may be sent to a charity of your choice.
