Wilma Leitheiser, 97, of Detroit Lakes passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Frazee Care Center. She was born at home in Callaway Township on October 11, 1924 to Charles and Dora (Kruse) Johnson. She attended country school and then graduated high school in Detroit Lakes.
She married Herbert Leitheiser in Detroit Lakes on June 26, 1946 where they resided and owned and operated Leitheiser Plumbing and Heating Company until his death in 1973. She then was employed by Rural Minnesota CEP until her retirement. She moved to her lake home in 1985 where she resided until moving to the Frazee Care Center.
Surviving Wilma are her two daughters Phyllis (Rick) Hecathorn and Bonnie (Peter) Nelson. Grandchildren: Kim (Ken) Roth, Bryon (Tara) Nelson, Gary Phillips, Jason (Kacey) Leitheiser, Drew (Jessica) Nelson, Travis Leitheiser (Mischelle Reiners), Tylor Leitheiser and Stephanie (Marshall) Steen. Great-grandchildren Jovi Phillips, Paige Nelson, Nathan Nelson, Jace Nelson, Easton Leitheiser, Ruby Leitheiser and Brynlee Steen.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, an infant son, her son Steve, daughters-in-law Kim Leitheiser and Laurie Bowers and her sisters Bernice (Ray) Amundson and Caroline (Kenny) Remmen.
Visitation will be Friday, July 1 from 5:00-7:00 at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2 at 11:00 at Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. Viewing will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church
