Wilma Saunders Obituary
Wilma Lorene Saunders, 92, of Romance, passed away on March 8, 2026, at Unity Health in Searcy. She was born on Oct. 11, 1933, in Sedan, Kansas, to the late Roy and Faye (Hendricks) Watson. Wilma found joy in the simple things in life. She loved quilting and creating pieces that will be treasured for years to come. She also enjoyed working jigsaw and crossword puzzles and spending peaceful time tending to her flower gardens. Wilma was a faithful and active member of New Hart Church, where her faith guided her daily life.
She is survived by her children, Linda Martineau (Larry), Lloyd Saunders, Thomas Saunders (Rhonda) and Carol Witt; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Rosa Lee Dodd; as well as a host of extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Saunders; and brothers, Melvin Watson, George A. Watson, and Otis Watson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Romance Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.
