Spring Creek, Wilma Balding Woody, 86, went peacefully at Yancey Assisted Living in Burnsville, NC on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
A native of Madison County, Wilma was the daughter of the late Wiley and Vinia Presley Balding. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe Woody who passed in 1991, a sister, Nina B. Wright and a brother Bobby Balding.
Wilma was a member of Meadow Fork Missionary Baptist Church and attended Lusk Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Loved gardening flowers and keeping her yard groomed. Wilma had a special love for her cats.
Wilma is survived by her daughter Kathy E. Johnson (Clyde), a son, Bobby Joe Woody, a sister Lela Raterink (Earl) along with several special nieces and nephews, two grandchildren Christy and Scott Johnson and two great-grandchildren Isabella and Lilyana.
A funeral service will be held in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, with Pastor Jonathan Sluder officiating. Visitation will begin from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
