Wilmer Lewis “Main Main” Jones, a loving father, son, brother, and friend, was taken from us too soon on July 29, 2025. He leaves behind his wife, Shunee Jones; his children, Kiera McCoy, Chaz Jones, Chance Jones, and stepson Keonte Starks; and his cherished grandchildren, Khloe Owens, Kylaa Waters, Khalif Waters, and Khamil Waters. Wilmer was the son of Wilmer Garland and Gerald Jones and is also survived by his in-laws, Warren and Susan Horsley. His siblings—Dale Jones, Dearra Jones, Antonio Garland, Daniel Garland, Angelena Garland, Paris Davis, and Carshell Davis—along with devoted aunts, Geraldine Barksdale and Phyllis Martin, best friend, Tyrone Tyree, and a host of extended family members and lifelong friends, will carry his memory in their hearts. He is remembered fondly by his beloved furry friend, Neo.
A true sports enthusiast, Wilmer loved coaching and spending time with kids, sharing his passion for the game and making lasting connections in the community. He was a die-hard fan of the Duke Blue Devils, and his excitement for basketball was infectious. Recently, he started a new job at the airport, looking forward to new opportunities and a brighter future for himself and his family.
Wilmer faced life’s challenges head on, demonstrating strength and resilience that inspired those around him. He was dedicated to his family and served as a role model for young Black fathers, showing the importance of love, support, and active involvement in their children’s lives. His laughter, spirit, and unwavering support for his loved ones will be deeply missed.
Wilmer Lewis “Main Main” Jones was more than just a name; he was a force in our lives. As we remember him, we celebrate the warmth, laughter, and love he brought to everyone around him.
