Wilson (Rex) Samuel May Jr., age 91 of Indianapolis, IN was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Rex was born on January 27, 1934, in Connersville, IN, the son of Wilson Samuel May Sr. and Catherine Connor May.
Rex was a graduate of Morristown High School in Indiana in 1953. He served the U.S. Army in Greenland as an Engineering Equipment Mechanic from 1954 until 1957 and was in the U.S. Army Reserves until January 1962. Rex is the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Rex May and Dick Hayes established Emergency Plumbing in Oaklandon, IN in 1963. Marlene and Dick’s wife, Verena managed the business. The company name and management changed to Rex May Plumbing in 1969, which spanned nearly 60 years.
Rex with Rex May Plumbing served his community in backhoeing its snowy streets from 1963 until 1973, when the City of Lawrence resumed. His company also provided charity plumbing services at Lawrence Christian School in Lawrence and donated equipment and time to help establish the Oaklandon Community Park.
Rex married Marlene Joan May on November 30, 1958. They celebrated 67 years of marriage. Rex is survived by his wife, Marlene. Rex and Marlene had 6 children. Surviving are Joyce, Rick, Sam and Debbie. Rex was preceded in death by two of his sons - Doug in April 2025 and Rex Alan in March 2024. Rex is survived by 14 grandchildren (GC), one deceased, 24 great GC and 3 great, great GC. Rex’s brothers Larry and Gary and sisters Linda and Margaret are deceased. He is survived by his sister Elaine of Sedona, AZ.
