Wilson Roy Roberts, age 96, passed away December 11, 2025, peacefully at home. He was born October 18, 1929, in
Lorenzo, Texas, to Wilson Hendrick Roberts and Floy Alice Todd Roberts. Roy graduated from Wellman High School in 1947 where he played basketball.
On December 31, 1949, he married Dortha Nell Hawkins, and they had 2 children, Roy Don Roberts and Linda Carol Roberts-McClellan. He was a devoted husband and father.
Roy was a Staff Sergeant serving in the 9th Fighter Bomber Squadron from March 1952 to March 1956. He arrived at Perrin A.F.B., in
Sherman, TX in January 1956, just returning from eighteen months in Komaki Japan. After his discharge he was assigned to one of the flight line maintenance crews. He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Durant Oklahoma in 1962. Roy had a B.S. Degree in Industrial Arts and Business.
Roy went to work for Hardwicke-Etter, drafting gin machinery and building cotton gins in Turkey and Iran.
Roy's company sent him to California for one year and there he enjoyed watching his son play high school football. Later he moved back to West Texas to manage cotton gins and later co-owned a cotton gin in Tahoka, Texas. Dortha Roberts sadly passed away in 1977.
Later Roy sold his cotton gin and moved to South Texas where he managed a cotton gin. In 1987 Roy was blessed to have met Glenda Boone. They married in 1988 and led a very adventures life raising ostriches and miniature ponies. In Roy's airplane they flew throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Roy was a member as well as a president of the International Comanche Society. Eventually he built his own airplane. Roy would fly to OshKosh, Wisconsin and Sun'n Fun,
Lakeland, FL for air shows.
Roy later sold his airplane, bought a motorcycle, and traveled through several states. Roy was a Christian and belonged to United Baptist Church
Victoria, TX. Roy always said, "I hope to live long enough to see Trump in office."
Roy was grateful for his family and proud of all his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Boone Roberts; his children, Roy Don Roberts (Jill) of Velma, Oklahoma, Linda Roberts-McClellam of Lubbock, Texas. Glenda's daughters, Jody Oubre Gaertner (Russell) of San Marcos, Sonya Oubre of
Victoria, Texas, Sherry Oubre Kelly (Tim) of Dripping Springs, Texas and Jacquelyn Oubre Hightown (Bill) of Cuero, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Tunner (Shannon), Sherry Lopez, Melissa Roberts, Clay McClellan (Ruth), Leah Rangel (Chris), Brandi Fauth (Josh), Cody Brannan (Kelly), Ashley Brannan, Dr. Andrea Bernhard-Dilcher (Micah), Jonathan Bernhard (Samantha), Emilee Williams-Cannon (Alex), Clayton Williams, Scott Kelly (Sonni), Danille Kelly Frize (Joey), Travis Fredirick (Hope); great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Hendrick Roberts and Floy Alice Todd Roberts; his first wife, Dortha Roberts, his brother Bobby Ray Roberts, and his nephew Monty Roberts.
Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy,
Victoria, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Brownfield Cemetery, Brownfield, Texas.
