Deepest sympathy to Beth and the Whineray family on the sad loss of a husband, father, grandfather and my 4th cousin. I have fond memories of when my late mother, Marian, and I were invited to meet him during a visit to Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire, England (where his maternal grandparents were born) in September 2000. Proud to be related to him. Sad loss of a great New Zealand legend. Deeply saddened to learn of his demise. Thinking of you all, so very far away, at this very difficult time in your lives. God bless and much love. xxx

Dear Lady Whineray, I wanted to extend my deepest condolences and also those of my father Ack and mother Lyndel. Dad toured with Wilson on three occasions - Ceylon in 1955, Australia in 1957, and Japan in 1958 - and only has the very warmest of memories, with a few amusing anecdotes to boot. I'm sure you've a mountain of such wonderful and treasured memories that will live on. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Nick Soper

One of the greats. As a schoolboy I watched Wilson Whineray lead the All Blacks at Eden Park.He also helped Auckland retain the Ranfurly Shield, a true and magnificent portsman.Memories I will recall for the rest of my days.

Much has already been said and written about Wilson, there will be much more to come. We are so lucky to have known him, to have worked with him and witnessed his great leadership. He was so greatly admired, respected, revered and loved, he touched so many people's lives, and he set the bench mark very high in everything he did.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this week and the future.
With warm regards and God's richest blessings and comfort.
