Mrs. Wilva Rae Deviney, age 81, of Meridian, MS, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Wilva "Billie" was a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her Christian faith was her source of hope all her life and carried her through many trials and tribulations.
She was known as the Post Office Lady at NAS Meridian, where she was the Postmaster for over 20 years. Billie was also the cake decorator at Sack and Save for many years. Her most important job was caring for her family.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was also mom to anyone who walked into the house. She was a very generous soul, and she would give you the shirt off her back if you asked for it.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dennis Deviney; children, Michelle Deviney-Arrant (Robert), James Deviney, Mary McNall (Mac), John Deviney (Erica), and Anna Deviney; grandchildren, Jennifer McClure (Patrick), Kayla Sharpe (Michael), Victoria Colak (Apo), Jason Barksdale, Danielle Deviney, Anthony Deviney, Alyssa Fobian (Brooks), Elizabeth Metzler (Trevor), Sarah Gilbert, Haley Deviney, and Logan Deviney; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Hill, Eva Bell, Amy Votruba and Kenny Hill, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald "Butch" Glass, parents, Edward and Frances Hill, and brother, James Hill.
