Winfred Jerome Crane of Jackson, passed away April 18, 2025 at the age of 67. Winfred, affectionately known as "Win" to family and friends, was born on August 21, 1958, to Nathaniel, Sr. and Maggie Crane. He grew up in Jackson where he attended and graduated from Callaway High School and Hinds Community College. With his warm and welcoming personality, infectious smile and heartfelt laugh, Win lived life fully and embraced new adventures and experiences with an open heart and mind.
Win had a strong work ethic, keen business acumen, and an entrepreneurial spirit which was evident by some of his past work experiences, which included a career as a draftsman for Siemens Corporation, and eventually starting his own janitorial business in the greater Jackson area, which lasted for years. Most recently, Win served in a public service capacity with state government as an Assistant Sergeant -at -Arms for the Mississippi House of Representatives. Whatever Win did professionally and career-wise, he did so with dedication and a commitment to excellence.
Win had a zest for life and had numerous hobbies and pastimes which included listening to music from old school artist like Patti LaBelle, Donna Summer, BB King, and new school artist, especially Beyonce. He also loved good food and was a great cook. When it comes to barbeque, he was a grill master, and homemade yeast rolls, cakes, and his signature macaroni and cheese were a family favorite. He also enjoyed building and modifying cars. He was a car enthusiast, an auto racing fan, and loved driving cars really, REALLY fast! If you ever had the experience of being a passenger when Win demonstrated his love of fast driving, you knew to buckle up and steady your nerves!

Perhaps what Win was best known for was being a good-hearted, genuine, down-to-earth, person and a loving, adored son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin, and true friend. Family, friendships, and community were so important to Win and what really mattered to him more than anything else. He was always willing to lend a hand, step-up, and just be there for who/whom-ever and whatever was needed. He had that special quality of drawing people in with his magnetic personality, and when you were around him, you felt a little lighter and could count on him making you smile.
He is survived by his sisters: Dianne Marie Brown (Kenneth) and Sheila Renee Crane; brother, David Elgin Crane; sister-in-law, Earnestine Evans (Michael); nieces: Anna Margaret Crane, Natasha Dianne Brown, Medina Alisha Crane, Maggie Crane Brown, and Nituria Danielle Evans; nephews: Nathaniel Paul Crane, III, Kenneth Milton Brown, Jr., (Martina) and John Marcus Brown; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Paul Crane, Sr., and Maggie Mae Crane; brother, Nathaniel Paul Crane, Jr.; sister- in-law, Elaine Crane; and niece, Alicia Marie Brown.
