Winifred Oakman Obituary
WELLS- Winifred Lewis Oakman, 99, of Wells, VT passed away peacefully on Tuesday Sep 9, 2025 at the Mountain View Center in Rutland.
Winifred was born August 1, 1926 in wells the daughter of George and Hilda (Warner) Lewis.
She was a graduate of the Granville (NY) High School and Becker College in Worcester, MA. Following graduation, she worked in the insurance business for over 30 years in Massachusetts and New York for independent agencies,
She married George E. Oakman on Feb 15, 1947, They were married for 70 years until his death in 2018. She was also predeceased by her parents and daughter-in-law Madeline Oakman.
She is survived by her son Edward G. Oakman, 2 grandsons Edward Oakman (Beverly) and family Nathon, Connor and Branda; Jonathon Oakman (Karen) and family Adelaide, Idela, Cole and Morgan, a sister Lanice Lewis Quinn, Many nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours per her request.
Burial will be at a later date in the Wells Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Winifred's name to Wells Methodist Church, C/O Kenneth Littlewood, Wells, VT 05774
Arrangements are with the Durfee Funeral Home.
