Winona Leinaala Chong Tanaka, 94, of Hilo, HI, died at her residence in Hilo on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. She was born in Waimea, HI and was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Keaukaha Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, member of Alu Like Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna and Halau Ha'a Kea O Akala. Friends may call at the Hilo Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1373 Kilauea Ave.) on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Alae Cemetery, Mormon Section. The family requests casual attire. She is survived by her Sons, Leonard (Suellen) Tanaka, Aaron Tanaka of Hilo; Daughters, Nadine (Chartrand) Tanaka, Carol Aninion and Lori (Keith Cummings) Tanaka of Hilo; Sister, Roseline Ho of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
