Woodlyn Davis Obituary

Woodlyn Davis, Jr., lovingly known to many as "Woody," "Bun," and "Uncle Bun," was born on May 14, 1969, in Parksley, Virginia, to the late Woodlyn Davis, Sr. and Juanita Boggs Davis. On the early morning of Sunday, November 23, 2025, Woody answered God's call to eternal rest at the Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia, following a brief illness. God saw him growing tired and gently whispered, "Come with me, my son."
Woody was employed over the years with Holly Farms, Perdue, and Lucas Utilities. A true sports and entertainment enthusiast, he was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, wrestling, concerts, cruises, and classic Westerns. On Sunday mornings, he took great joy in listening to WESR Radio during Anetia Finney's Gospel Request Hour segment. He was also a former member of the Rated X Gentlemen's Club.
At an early age, he was baptized and became a member of Metompkin Baptist Church in Parksley, Virginia. In recent years, he belonged to Greater New Psalmist Baptist Church, Toledo, OH under the leadership of one of his lifelong friends, Brehon Hall. He proudly graduated from Arcadia High School, Class of 1987. Growing up in the Seaside community of Parksley, Woody formed friendships and bonds that would last a lifetime. Known for his humor and his habit of giving everyone their own special nickname, he will be forever remembered for his warm presence-and for those who often heard him say, "Hey Stuff!"
In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by his aunts Elizabeth Davis, Madelyn Scarborough, Peggy Pettit, Pauline Davis, Lenora Broughton, and Mary Virginia Justice; uncles Joseph Davis, Noah Davis, and Reginald Justice; and sisters Beverly Goodman and Melissa Davis.
Cherishing his memories are his sisters Annette Davis, Keva Davis, Rosetta McCready (Lorenzo), Elaine Smith (Kenny), Loretta Collins, and Tabatha Morris (Alvin); his aunt Jacqueline Dennis; and his uncles Amos C. Davis and Robert Henderson, Sr. He leaves behind a very special nephew, Amir L. Davis; as well as nieces and nephews Charles Maddox, Durrell Collins, Darnella Hickman, Andea Jackson, Azena Russell, Anika Jackson, Ishaneek Hill, Aliyah Morris, Sarah Collins, and LaJuana Collins.
Woody also leaves a host of cherished friends, including Bishop Brehon Hall, Palmer Bunting, William Fosque and The Barbershop Crew, Isaac Sample, Ronnie and Patty Lucas and the Lucas Utility crew, The A&N Electric crew, Charles Petitt Jr., and Clinton Justis. His cousins Yvonne Nock and Sandra Justice lovingly devoted their time and support wherever needed. He is also remembered by a very special and devoted friend of over 20 years, Doreen Trader; his special sisters Crystal Strand, Dawn McGuire, Sherry Mayes, and Brenda Harmanson; and a friend who was like a mother, Bertha Wilson. The Seaside Crew and many more cousins and friends will forever hold him in their hearts.
Woody's kindness, humor, and generous spirit touched countless lives. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to shine brightly in all who loved him.
