Woodrow Anthony Leger, a beloved figure in the Opelousas community, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on February 8, 1932, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, was a veteran of the United States Navy and dedicated over 45 years to running Leger's Wheel Alignment, a business that was a testament to his unwavering work ethic.
Throughout his life, Woodrow embraced the simple joys and values that shaped his character. He found great fulfillment in working his cattle, a hobby that reflected his deep-rooted connection to the land and a desire for a life lived close to nature. His genuine spirit and approach to life made him a respected member of his community.
Woodrow is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Wedna Leger; his daughters: Carol L. Hidalgo, Ellen L. Noel, and Charlene L. Duplechien; his son, Stanley Leger and wife, Angie; his step-daughter, Janet Marcantel and step-son, Randy Marcantel as well as numerous grandchildren: Jea Fisette Hundley, Blake Hargroder, Ashley N. Melancon, Lainey Hidalgo, Ryan T. Duplechien, Shadd Leger, Colin Hidalgo, Tristan Leger, Korey Duplechien, Sarah Ash, Emily Arnaud, Carlos Lopez, and Jace Lopez. Additionally, he leaves behind a legacy of love with 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Woodrow was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Edith Arnaud Leger, along with his siblings: Herbert Leger, Mildred Richard, Joyce Hebert, and Verlie Dodge; and his sons-in-law, Michael Duplechien, Lawrence "Boobie" Noel and Gary Hidalgo.
As the community remembers Woodrow, they celebrate not only a successful business owner but a devoted family man whose life exemplified hard work, simplicity, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
