Yisdor M. Sanchez

Ysidor is survived by his loving wife, Mary Sanchez; his son Lenard and Gloria Sanchez; his daughters Rosalie, Shirley and Rick Castillion, Margurite and Jeff Nelson, Monica Sanchez and Rob Sousa, and Diane Sanchez; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Angels: Irene Sanchez, Ivy Sanchez, Philip Sanchez, and Carol Soracco. Ysidor was also preceded in death by his three sisters: Amelia Chino, Elloise Bayliss, and Bertha Brown.

Ysidor was born in 1922. At the age of 20, he enlisted in the US Army and served from 1942-1945. Ysidor was a part of the combat infantry in Normandy, France. He was wounded twice and was a recipient of the following awards: European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and two Purple Hearts. In 2004, Ysidor was one of just 100 veterans invited to France to receive the France Legion of Honor medal for his service.

Ysidor was a devoted veteran and participated in the local VFW and American Legion. He also loved woodworking, traveling, and gardening.
