Yolanda (Angulo) Lopez, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family September 26, 2023, in Phoenix, Arizona. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 5525 W. Acoma Dr., in Glendale. Burial will immediately follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48 St, in Phoenix, AZ.
Yolanda was born July 5, 1946, to Catalina and Donaciano Angulo in Phoenix, Arizona where she grew up surrounded by a large close-knit family which included twelve brothers and sisters. This large family would become the foundation and source of love and happiness throughout her life. Growing up as the second youngest there was no shortage of adventure and occasional mischief as there was always a sibling around for either. Yolanda had a deep enthusiasm for life and living it to the fullest! She was up for anything from a spontaneous road trip to Vegas, family trip in "The Van" to Disneyland, a motorcycle ride to Laughlin, family camping trips, ditching a class, or even going to the Legion with her Sissy to dance. Little did she know what a beautiful journey God had waiting for her at the Legion where she would meet the Love of her life, her Husband, Frank Lopez. Her love for Frank was that of mutual genuine unconditional love and respect which was the backbone of their twenty-seven-year marriage.
Yolanda and Frank would endure the highs and lows of life alongside each other surrounded by family as their North Star. Their house would often become the "Home Base" for the Holidays or get togethers; providing the ham and turkey sandwiches from Thanksgiving leftovers, the Tripoley battle grounds if you were old enough, the menudo for New Years hang overs, the pool for pool parties, the yard for Easter Egg hunts and the love and happiness for many more beautiful memories for all to cherish and reflect on with a smile. One of the many gifts she gave to the world. With no children of her own and an abundance of love to give, she became a steady presence in many of her family's lives helping to raise, care for, love and support her stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews alongside her siblings. This would become a great source of jubilee which she treasured.
As a third generation native to Arizona, Yolanda had an enthusiasm and passion for all Arizona sports teams, even becoming an Arizona Cardinal Season ticket holder. You could often find her watching a plethora of ball games, whether on tv, at a professional level or in the stands cheering for a family member.
Yolanda loved deep and hard; she valued all relationships but none greater than the faith and relationship she cherished with God. She would seek and follow his guidance throughout her life, never wavering from his shelter; this faith would bring her peace knowing she would reach eternal life surrounded by loved ones who preceded her.
Her love and genuine devotion to family and faith would guide, nourish, and fulfill her soul till her very last breath.
She is survived by her husband Frank Lopez, stepchildren Gina Lopez, Danny Lopez, her Sister Gloria Harris (Maury), sister-in-law Terry Pina and brother-in-law Manuel Lopez and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents Donaciano Angulo, Catalina Angulo, her siblings, Mary Pineda (Rudy), Fred Angulo (Monica), Abe "Pato" Angulo (Stella), Armida Perez (Ted), Katie Chacon (David), Maggie Mesquita (Johnny) and Olivia Fernandez (Peter).
