Yolanda Z. Martinez

Yolanda Z. Martinez, 85, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom after a brief illness on Monday, October 31, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter's father, Alberto J. Martinez and her parents, Sebastian Zarate and Amalia Zarate.

Yolanda was born in Mexico City, Mexico and grew up in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas where she attended elementary school. She worked in Laredo, Texas and married Alberto J. Martinez. After starting her family, she became a small business owner and received her real estate broker's license. She was a realtor in Laredo for 35 years, as well as an investor and property manager.

She had a vibrant personality, full of life and joy and positively impacted the lives of those around her. A woman of deep faith, she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and great-grandmother who always put family first. She will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are: her daughter, Adriana R. (Ricardo) Cruz; her grandchildren, Ricardo S. Cruz, Adriana Michelle (Rocky) Rhodes, and Christina M. Cruz; her great-grandson, Mylo Jude Rhodes; and her siblings, Jorge († Arcelia) Zarate, Alfredo J. Zarate, Arturo (Petris) Zarate, and Elsa G. Zarate; as well as numerous relatives and friends.



The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, November 6, 2022 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 6:30 p.m.



Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, November 7, 2022 departing at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. John Neumann Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.



Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be: Rik Cruz, Riky Cruz, Rocky Rhodes, Jorge Zarate, Alfredo Zarate, Arturo Zarate, Alberto Zarate, Jesus Briseño, and John Salinas.
